I picked the orchid flasks up from the airport, yesterday. They arrived on Sunday evening as expected, so that was great. A few hassles, as the carrier they went to in Perth does not have a quarantine area. So, in the end, I was allowed to take them to the AQIS in the suburbs to get them checked.

They are beautiful plants: the root growth is amazing. A few I had to put into 4-inch pots because of the roots, so big. Thank you for such good flasks. I stayed up till midnight last night deflasking, they are all in their new home, looking forward to some of them flowering this time next year. That is the best part of growing Phals. They grow and flower so quickly. They also have an advantage this time of year here as we are going into summer, so later on I will be cooling them down.

I'm very happy with the flasks. They are the best and largest plants overall I have ever received. I will not hesitate to recommend you to others.

I understand that you will be at the Edmonton show on the 20th of February. Another member of our society (...) will also be at that show. She has offered to pick up the flasks I want if that is ok with you. The flasks that I am interested in are Phal. Rothschildiana and Phal. Yuda Sun 'Shin Kong' x Phal. Brother Kaiser 'Lung Ching', HCC/AOS. I hope these are still available.

I have purchased three other flasks from you and I have been absolutely satisfied and more so. All three have had babies spiking one at 14 months and three others at 10 months. I am very happy.

I had the privilege of meeting you and chatting briefly at the Orchid Sale at Tower Hill this summer, it definitely made it worth the drive in all that heat!!! (I was the person who couldn't believe how huge the plants in your flasks are, especially compared to the compots I received from OlXXXia which had roots no more than 2 cm. long at best...BTW out of 4 of his compots there are exactly 5 survivors, and the largest plant would be dwarfed by the tiniest of your seedlings! and these are plants I got last year, too, am wondering if they ever will do anything...)

Anyway I'm delighted to hear that you will be speaking at the Ocean State Orchid Show in RI as (God willing and the creeks don't rise) I'll be attending, and I was wondering if you'd be able to bring some plants. ( . . . )

Phal. XXXX just arrived. It's a great, healthy, baby with lots of roots, a far cry from some similar-sized plants I've received in the past (from other vendors). It's all potted up . . . I' ll baby it for about a week or so, although it looks so sturdy it probably doesn't need it.

As you thought, my four orchids arrived today in extremely good shape. I certainly can't blame anybody but myself if they don't survive. I got a chuckle out of the name P. Super Stupid and wondered how that came about.

Just wanted to let you know my orchids arrived this morning at 8:30. Excellent packing made their trip uneventful. They're already repotted and they are beautiful! Great leaf color/condition and very healthy roots ... Appreciate the bonus plant, too. It's a very nice touch.

You really should be ashamed of yourself!! Now that I've got my order all planted out and looking like its established, I really can't tell the difference between flask seedlings, compot plants or the ten for $ seedlings! Gad, the two flasks were amazing! I've never had to break a flask before, and I've certainly never faced potting a seedling out of flask into a 3" pot! My only complaint is, had I known the difference in the flask plants, I would have not ordered a milk bottle flask. Those plants are totally acceptable, and average by any standard, but it will be months before the plants reach the size of the other seedlings, and I'll probably manage to kill half of them.

Just wanted to let you know I was pleased, and the next time I order, I'll give you a broad hand to substitute based on the size of the plants in the flasks. Not growing under ideal conditions, these additions will really jump start my efforts to expand into some of the newer breeding lines. Given some of the new crosses you just posted on your website, I'm having a hard time not sending off another order right away!

Oh boy.. I see what you meant about the size of the plants, they couldn't have been tipped out unless the flask was broken. Wow are they big! Your plants are bigger than the flask of paphs I was given 18 months ago & have been out of the flask for 14 months, that is comparing them today. I have read your deflasking demystified, & it seems to make sense & be pretty simple, so how soon should these plants come out of the flasks? Obviously I will leave them in their new living quarters for a few days as is to get familiar with their new environment.

Please excuse my enthusiasm, but this is way better than I ever expected to see.... Oh wow....

I even have a plant (phally) flowering with one flower that is only the size of the biggest leaves I can see in the flask. Thank You SO much for all your help, I often wonder why someone goes to so much trouble for someone else over a couple of flasks. You're right when you say orchid growers are wonderful people. - K.G.
